Gratitude "F" Day

Of course, I'm soooo very grateful for my family. For ALL of my family--husband, children, pets, parents, siblings, in-laws, out-laws, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, close friends, etc. Without family, I would be nothing because they help me feel hope, happiness, stress, pride, sorrow, rejoicing, love, support, confidence, etc etc etc.

Day "E" for Gratitude

Today I'm grateful for the evening. I love evening--the family is usually all together and we're tired and wrapping things up for the day. I love to snuggle in and read with the kids and get into my warm, cozy bed and take a deep breath. I also love to see the sky at twilight--sunsets, the first star appearing, the purply color of the sky. I love it!! We have so much beauty around us and I love to enjoy it all.

Gratitude "D" Day

This is seriously harder than I thought it would be!! To find ONE thing per letter to be grateful for? I could go on and on and on with some letters, so I'm just going to pick something and run with it. Today, I'm thankful for doctors. I think I probably would have died at least a couple of times with the help and care of a doctor. Pregnancy wasn't kind to me, especially with my last two babies. I got to the point of being so sick and dehydrated, I couldn't even keep a little sip of water down. Without medical care, how long could I have lasted without any food or water at all??

I'm also getting older--every day, I get another day older, much to my dismay. Earlier this year, I went in for a routine checkup and my doctor wanted me to get some routine tests done. A long story short, after many tests and appointments, I was diagnosed with Graves' Disease this last summer. Fortunately, the name sounds worse than the disease really is, but it's been a struggle trying to get things under control and deal with it. I'm just grateful to live in a time when things like this can be treated.

Gratitude Day "C"

"C"...there are so many things that I could choose for C, just like with most of the other letters. I could choose chocolate, because it's my guilty pleasure. I could also choose children, but I'll save them for another day. I could choose Christmas, because it's my favorite holiday. The list goes on and on. However, I'm going to choose CAMERA. I'm so grateful we have cameras in this day and age to capture the good times and the bad; the funny and the crazy; the happy moments and the memories that we just don't want to let go of. Many memories are remembered by looking at a picture and we wouldn't have those pictures without a camera. :)

Gratitude Day 5 (B)

Today I'm grateful for...books. Surprise, surprise. I love to read and have since...well, forever!! My mom says that I used to follow her around with books that I wanted her to read to me (I'm sure she'd hide from me sometimes). I remember being a small child and my mom would give me a stack of books and my sister a stack of books and tell us to lay down and when we finished our stack, we had to switch stacks and read the other stack before we could come out of our room. I remember going to Kindergarten and being able to read the books while I was sitting on the rug and loving it. I remember not having a library in our small town and being able to occasionally go to the Bookmobile that would come around. I loved checking books out from the school library. I recall in about 6th grade that I got a new book I'd been wanting to read. I decided that I would read just one chapter on the way home on the bus. Then I would hurry and do my homework when I got home so I could read one chapter before dinner. And then, I decided, I would read just one more chapter before bed. Let's just say, I finished the book before I went to bed that night. :) I'm never bored because if I have a few extra minutes, you'll find my nose stuck in a book.

Gratitude Day 4=A

Okay...I just saw a great idea for this Gratitude thing. Instead of just posting random things, you go through the alphabet. A=Day 1, B=Day 2, etc. Since, Thanksgiving is on the 28th, you post two extra things at the end--what you're most grateful for and something else. Since I just saw this and we're on Day 4, I think I'll just in and maybe combine the "hard letters" like X and Z and finish up on Thanksgiving.

A...I almost feel like I'm playing Scattergories and if I come up with something like "animal antics," I'll get double the points--if no one else uses one or both of my words. :) Seriously though, I'm grateful for automobiles. We've been on some fun vacations and have had chances to visit family that would have been impossible to do with a horse and buggy. It would take way too long!! Even a trip to visit our parents would take days to make that 100 mile trek. Things are much more convenient with the types of transportation we have now.

Gratitude Day 3

I'm very grateful that the time changed. I woke up this morning and had an extra hour to get myself ready for the day, which is good, since I woke up with a bad headache. I love going back to "normal" time because I seem to get more rest with it being dark earlier.
