Bat Girl and the Tooth Fairy

I never knew that Bat Girl (or Batman--whoever she's pretending to be) had curly hair, but this one does. Jenna had fun putting on this mask and posing (look at her hands). She likes Batman. Hmmm....she doesn't like princesses, except for Princess Leia (Star Wars), she hates wearing bows in her hair, and she loves dogs and bears instead of baby dolls. I think she's part tomboy--but not completely because she does love shoes and pink.

I had a meeting last night and came home to find Kristen looking like a rabbit. :) She lost 2 teeth! I guess Jon pulled one out and she got the other one out. She can make some crazy faces with those gaps. Does she remind anyone of "Bunny Face?"

Flag Football and Bad Mom

Kendall really enjoys football, but I get nervous having him do the full tackle. I think he's nervous for that. They start kids in tackle in 3rd grade here. So...we found the fun alternative of a flag football league. He can learn some of the rules of football, but not have the injuries associated with being tackled. He's had a lot of fun so far...one week down and three to go.

I think it was my sister who claimed to win the worst mom in the world award. I think you're not a mom if you don't have at least one "bad" thing happen to you. Last weekend, we went for a drive to a nearby canyon and came home after dark. I grabbed everyone's water bottles and came in the house. I had a message waiting, so I made a couple of calls and then asked Jon where Jenna was. He said he thought she was with me. I looked in all the usual spots where she puts herself to sleep when she's tired and she wasn't there. All of the sudden it hit me--she was still in the van! I went out and sure enough, she was. I felt AWFUL!!! She'd been out there for about 30 minutes in the pitch dark. She was sleeping, but as soon as I opened the door she woke up screaming that she was scared. At least it wasn't hot out there. Poor girl--I feel like I've traumatized her.

Bzzzz....

Jarren got his first bee sting last night. I think I'm semi-allergic to bees. When I get stung, I get really swollen in that spot and I also feel dizzy and nauseated. I stepped on a bee when I was 14 and my leg was swollen up to my knee and I couldn't wear a shoe for a week--my foot was purple and HUGE! Kendall and Kristen have been stung before, but it only hurts them for a few minutes and they're fine. Jarren has a pretty high pain tolerance, so I knew something was wrong when he was outside and started screaming hysterically. He got stung on his thumb and he was in pain. He had a lacy rash up to his elbow and his hand was swollen. I immediately put a paste of baking soda and water on it, but it was still swollen. I gave him some pain reliever but he was still in pain. He woke up this morning and said he feels better, but when he tries to move it, it's still hurting. Poor boy!

Tangle

I remember when I was 12, and at girls camp no less, I got a comb and started twirling my hair around it. Well...little did I know, it doesn't untangle. We tried and tried to get the comb out and couldn't, so I had to cut off a lock of my hair. I thought I'd warned my kids of the danger of twirling a comb in your hair, but sometimes I guess they just have to learn the hard way.

The other night, I was reading to the kids before bed and looked over at Kristen and she had a comb wrapped up in the front part of her hair. I said, "You'd better not have done what I think you did." She immediately tried to get it out and of course, couldn't. I tried and tried to untangle it and told her we'd probably have to cut it. Cutting it would've given her about 1/2 inch bangs (if even that long), so I really didn't want to do that if I could help it. I ended up cutting the comb so just the part with the hair in it was left and then I pulled and tugged and twisted until I miraculously got it out! It was a jumbled up tangle, but we put in some detangler and combed until it was smooth. Let me just say how glad I am we didn't have to cut it!!!

Dancing Queen

I've always wanted to take dance lessons and now I'm thinking that Jon and I should sign up for some ballroom dancing classes. Well, maybe when the kids are just a little older (for babysitting purposes).

One of my favorite shows started the new season tonight--Dancing with the Stars! I LOVE how they dance!!! Jon and I had to chaperone a youth dance on Saturday night and the kids kept dragging us out there and making us dance. We had a blast, but realized that we can't dance as well as we'd like to--well, at least I felt that way.

So...one of these years, my goal is going to be to learn to dance like the dancers on DWTS and maybe I'll make my dream come true--to be considered a "dancing queen."

High School Yearbook

Last week, a friend of mine told me about this website: www.yearbookyourself.com. It is absolutely hilarious to see yourself in different years! If anyone tries this out, I'd LOVE to see the pictures of you (or your family). I never did like my yearbook pictures, but after seeing these, maybe mine aren't so bad. Hahaha. Here are some of the "looks" of our family:
Katie 1968

Katie 1984

Kendall 1970

Jarren 1976

Jon 1958 (doesn't he look like Alec Baldwin?)

Jenna in 1966

And here's Kristen in 1988 and Jon in 1990.

#7

Hahaha....Like I said, I worry too much and maybe it's just a mom thing. I don't know. I was up late stewing over the fact that maybe there's more quirks to me than I thought (of course there are). I thought of another good one; so here's #7: When I eat, I always eat the "yucky" stuff first, to get it out of the way. I always eat my vegetables first and then the other stuff. I always eat the lettuce out of my salad first and then the tomatoes or cheese or whatever else is in it. When I eat cake, I eat the cake first and save the frosting for last. I've done it that way for a long time and when my kids say, "I need more frosting!" I just tell them to get the other stuff out of the way so they can eat the good stuff last. :)

I'm IT!

I've been tagged by my friend, Teresa.

Here are the rules:
Link the Person who Tagged you.
Mention rules on your blog.
Tell about 6 quirks of yours.
Tag 6 fellow bloggers to do the same.
Leave a comment to let them know.

1. I worry way too much about silly little things--things that don't really matter. Sometimes I'll wake up in the night and worry about how the carpool schedule will go for dance; or which stores I'm going to go to in the morning; or which part of the house I should attempt to clean. Silly things like that.

2. I'm so scared of these garter snakes, that I've let my yard turn into a jungle. I've only found 3 in the backyard this summer, but we've lived here for over 7 years and I've never seen one in my yard until now. And now I let them rule the yard. Why am I so scared of something so small?

3. I can remember dates like you wouldn't believe. Not the kind of romantic dates. But like dates on the calendar. I have no idea why, but birthdays, anniversaries, etc. just stick in my mind like glue and I remember them forever. I don't remember years very well though. I can tell you your birthday is on this date, but I would have no idea how old you are, unless I can think of a way to relate it to something.

4. I hate to wear shoes. Of course I do when I have to, but my feet are sooo calloused and gross because I hate shoes.

5. Back to feet....I never paint my fingernails, but I always have to have my toenails painted, and the brighter the color, the better. Especially purplish colors.

6. I don't like jewelry or perfume. I know--I'm a weird woman. I wear my wedding ring (most of the time) and very occasionally earrings, but that's about it. And occasionally I'll use scented lotion, but that's the extent of it.

I'm sure there are a lot more quirks about me, but that's what comes to the top of my head.

I tag: Jen, Denise, Tayna, Monica, Jenn, and Erin.

HAHA on me!

I've decided that I'm pretty dumb. When I created this blog, it said something about google and to enter your email address, so I thought you had to have a gmail account. I already have a couple of email accounts (although none of them are gmail), so I just used Jon's gmail address to sign up. And now it won't let me change it! What a pain.... Did anyone else have this problem?

Pictures of Jenna

Of course Jenna won't keep her diaper on lately, but it was really bad when she was outside and took it off so she could sit in the ditch. Here are a few silly pictures of her. Oh, and she actually asked to have the bows in her hair. I was quite surprised! She usually just rips things out when I put them in.

I'm Back!

I'm finally back on the computer. We have a lap top and the little wire in the middle of the cord (the part that plugs into the computer) somehow got bent and when Jon tried to fix it, it snapped off. We ordered a new cord and it just came this afternoon, so now we can use the computer and charge the battery back up. YAY!!

Jon had to go in to the doctor on Tuesday and get all the stuffing taken out of his nose and he finally got to take the bandage on the outside off this morning. He's been up and at it and is doing well.

Kendall is growing up way too fast--he's at a Vanessa Hudgens (of High School Musical fame) concert at the State Fair tonight with some neighbors. I remember getting little crushes on celebrities, but I think I was a little older than he is.

Kristen was exercising on the tread mill and said, "I just killed some calories!" I don't know why, but that made me laugh.

For my LDS friends...I just got released from being Nursery leader for almost 2 years and was put in as 1st counselor in the Young Women. ANY advice would be greatly appreciated! I haven't been in there since I was a Young Woman myself. I went to my first activity on Wednesday night and met the girls--there are about 10 and they are really cute and sweet and I'm excited to work with them.
