Happy 19, 29, or 39

It happened. I turned another year older yesterday. How old? It depends on who you ask. Jon loves to say I'm in my 40th year, just to make me depressed. Bedums says I can be 19 or 29, just so I'm not depressed. And Teen 2 says,  "wow! You're only 39?! You're younger than I thought!" Haha. Not. Funny.

All that aging (ie. depressing) stuff aside, it was a great day!! Lunch with friends, whirlwind party, fun gifts, yummy cake, sweet family, lots of cards, visits, calls, texts, etc. And a  basketball game to top it off (yes, a win for Teen 1!).

Here's to a great 363 days of being in my 30s.

Pinewood Derby

There are some parts to being a mom that I'm glad I'll never go through again (like potty training). As the kids grow up, there are other things that I know I'll miss never doing again (like having a brand, new baby). There are some stages that are bittersweet. The Pinewood Derby is one of those. Jon always helps the boys with their cars and is not always fun. They don't want to do it or they're tired or its not working out the way they wanted it to. But then they go to the big night. It's so much fun and it's exciting to race something they made. This was the last one we'll do with either of our boys. Jon was on a flight home and missed it, but we got a lot of pictures and video. Fun, memorable times.

2014

This New Year has been crazy already, but I refuse to let it get me down. January has been such a *blah* month. We've hardly had any snow. The snow we did have is dirty and melting. The skies are filled with hazy sunshine and it's still a bit nippy out. My kids think it's practically spring, since the temps are in the upper 30s and low 40s, but that's still too cold for me. We started the New Year with phone drama. We were trying to get Teen 1's phone switched to our new company and were not told some important information. This left him without a phone for about 10 days and then he had to get a new number. In the middle of that, our computer up and died. The hard drive to totally dead and we're told they *might* be able to recover some of the information on it--for about $1200. Right after that, our Internet went out. We were without that for a few days. I'm of the opinion that bad things come in threes, so I think we're good for awhile. :)

On the bright side, the kids had a 3 day weekend last week and will have another one this week. Buggins is about done with his science fair project and the semester is ending for the Teens. I'll have a licensed driver in about 6 months!! Happy Day!! I've decided that things happen for a reason. I was dreading having a teen with a driving permit in the house. Then we started practicing and he's not that bad. Now I can't wait to send him out on his own to take himself to basketball practice, to his friend's house, to run errands for me. :) Summer will be here before I know it.
