When You're Bored...

When you're bored and it's too hot outside to go bury someone in the sand, try burying them in stuffed animals (or Webkinz). They had so much fun doing this!!!

I'm Famous!!!

Every time we watch my neighbors dogs, I feel like I'm totally famous. Why? Because I'm followed constantly by the "puparazzi." Get it? Haha. They sure are funny. Yes, I was sitting on the couch reading and they were all right there. :)

Hobos!!

Hobo--a migratory worker or homeless vagabond, especially one who is penniless.

For some odd reason, my kids are OBSESSED with hobos. They always call each other hobo and make hobo faces. I made hobo dinners (tin foil dinners) the other night and they thought it was hilarious!! But they all ate it up. Maybe they like them because they feel penniless too? I don't know...

So...here are my little (and big) hobos and their interpretation of a hobo smile. Haha.

Happy 14th Birthday, Kendall!!

I think Kendall was born a year too late. Had he been born a year later, he would have turned 13 on Friday the 13th. How fun would that be?! Oh well...he celebrated his 14th birthday on the 13th day of July in the 12 year of the century. Still pretty cool.

Popping a balloon--I love his expression. :)

Fun gifts!!

Birthday Boy!!

Opening gifts.

BASKETBALL!!

He's a Nike boy--through and through
Yummy "cake"--lots of fire on there.
Kendall told me he just wanted to hang out on his birthday, so I didn't really plan anything, aside from presents, a special dinner, and cake and ice cream. His day brought rain and cooler temps--what a gift. He decided on fruit pizza, instead of cake. He got some fun "teen" things--new skull candy headphones, iTunes gift card, disc golf started set, new basketball, clothes, candy, etc. After dinner, gifts, and all that, two of his buddies called him up and they hung out for awhile. I think his day was fun. It's hard to believe he's already so old!! And you know what that means--the older he gets, the older I get. :)

Fire vs. the Fireworks

Fireworks!!!

With all the fires surrounding us, I didn't dare buy any type of fireworks, but my neighbor gave the kids some snappers.

The red light to the right is the fire.

A zoomed in shot of the fire with a firework to the left. Kinda cool.
Last night was a toss up--should we watch the city's fireworks show or watch the fire that is taking over the mountainside? We watched both. We had our binoculars and scope and could zoom in for a close look. The flames kept shooting way up and then then went over the side and we couldn't see them anymore, but could see a glow. It was crazy!! I tried to get a few shots with the firework setting on the camera, but they are by no means pro. :) It was a good fireworks show too.

Happy 38th Birthday, Jon!!!

Everyone was excited to see what he got!

Jarren picked out this license plate to give him. He looks pretty thrilled with it. Kendall picked one out too.
3 and 8 candles. Get it?
Okay...I'm about as slow as the snails crawling on my driveway. Jon's birthday was on July 2 (Monday). He had to work all day and then we had a nice dinner and presents that night. I felt like his gifts were kind of boring this year, but he was good. He wanted a yellow cake with chocolate buttercream frosting.
Yum! He's been so busy with his high school reunion and work and it was nice to celebrate how awesome he is!!

Summertime

For the most part, I'm loving summer! We're over a month into it (less than 2 to go) and it's pretty good. Yes, there is a lot of fighting, boredom, etc, but overall, it's great. I love not having to battle homework (although I do try to make them read and do other mind-stimulating things); get everyone up and out the door; force everyone to go to sleep early. I love the sun, the trees blowing, the garden growing. I love the sound of the birds, the sound of the leaves rustling in the breeze, the sound of the kids laughing and having fun. But...I do NOT love the sound of someone puking all over my bedroom floor in the middle of the night. Pray, hope, cross your fingers, wish on a star, whatever it takes, that it's a fluke and we're not all going to get sick. But if we do, since it's summertime, no one has to miss school. :) Yes, it's those awesome silver linings that keep us going. Haha.
